A fanart of Beauregard Lionett from Critical Role campaign 2!
I've been enjoying Critical Role a lot and have always wanted to make a fan art of one of the players' characters. The first one (of hopefully more to come) is Beauregard! Some parts were very challenging to translate into 3D and into a more realistic style. Her outfit was a constant struggle, but I think I struggled most with her skin tone since the different designs of her varied quite a bit, and I had to bring some realism into it. This was done over 5-6 weeks half-time.
The highpoly was made using ZBrush and Marvelous Designer, lowpoly with Maya, textures with Substance Painter and Designer (and Marmoset for baking) and lastly the character was rendered in Unreal Engine 4 with ray tracing turned on. Some extra assets were made for the beauty shot (the Bag of Holding and the quarterstaff), but most of it are from Quixel Megascans.
The final product ended up being 47,699 triangles (excluding hair and double sided for certain things). The hair sits at 15,278 tris (single sided). Four 2k texture sets are used for the character + 5 128x128 detail normal maps, a 2048x1024 for hair cards, 2k for hair cap and 128x128 for eyelashes.
