Weathered Backpack

A survivor's backpack that I made in 4-5 weeks at half-time. The design is of a backpack which I own, but modified a bit. I also took a lot of inspiration from the backpacks in The Last of Us, and aimed for a similar style and quality.

The high poly was made mainly by using Marvelous Designer and then further worked upon in Zbrush. Hard surface objects and retopology was made with Maya, and textures with Substance Painter. All the renders are from Unreal Engine 4 using ray tracing.

The whole thing ended up being 17,721 triangles, and uses a 2k texture set + two detail normals at 128x128 px.

Unmute for a bit of ambient sound!

A showcase of the dynamic shader I made in Unreal Engine 4 that allows for both rain and snow to fall on the backpack. Falling leaves, rain and snow effects were made using Niagara.

My Marvelous Designer project. It was a real challenge to reverse engineer the pattern for this particular backpack! I keep everything divided into left and right to save myself from too much pain when exporting it to ZBrush.
